Marrakech – Atlas Mountains – Ait Ben Haddou – Valley Roses/Tenghir
In the morning, departure from Marrakech towards the Erg Chebbi desert.
We will pass through some Kasbahs and Berber settlements of the Atlas Mountains as we cross the High Atlas Mountains. We will stop from time to time to take photos, admire the views, stretch our legs, and have a coffee. Next, we will stop at the top of Tizi n'Tichka to admire the sweeping views and an argan oil field. Afterward, our journey will continue until we reach the Kasbah.
The most significant destination of the first day of the Marrakech desert excursion is Ait Ben Haddou. The most famous ksar in Morocco is Ait Ben Haddou, which is also arguably one of the most striking and intriguing structures in the area, leading UNESCO to designate it a World Heritage Site. We'll take our time exploring this fortified settlement, which has served as a backdrop for popular Hollywood productions such as Gladiator, Game of Thrones, and Lawrence of Arabia.
After lunch at one of the neighborhood cafes, we'll continue to Klaa M'Gouna, the capital of the Valley of Roses and known for its artisanal rosewater distilleries. At the end of the day, we'll spend the night in the Valley of Roses/Tinghir.
Day 2
Valley Roses/Tenghir – Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga
After a satisfying traditional breakfast, our 3-day group trip to the Merzouga Desert in Morocco continues. We'll travel along the Road to the Tinghir Oasis, dotted with numerous picturesque Berber villages and ancient kasbahs. Next, we'll travel to Tineghir, a stunning 15-kilometer valley filled with date palms.
The route is surrounded by imposing pink and gray granite walls, which we'll be sure to admire. Afterward, we'll head to the Erg Chebbi dunes of Merzouga. Upon arriving at the famous Sahara Desert dunes, you'll have the opportunity to ride a camel to the camp while watching the sunset.
There's nothing more enchanting than sleeping under the stars or in an authentic nomadic tent among the Saharan dunes of Merzouga. If you wish, you can also drum with the expert camel guide for an enchanting experience.
